For my fellow school dorks,
Colleague Brian and I using theoretical name tags to demonstrate the diversity within our program.
(More on positivism here, and “not-positivism” here)
For context: Some doctoral programs in R1 universities will fly out the new batch of accepted applicants for a “visit day” to show them around and introduce them to faculty/peers. At the last event of the day we have a dinner-ish thing with booze tickets, at which the existing students (myself included) acquaint ourselves with the new potentials and get to know their research interests.
Then later we all get drunk.
